Wedel company is a well-known manufacturer of chocolate products. You can find the following products: chocolates, bars, wafers, pralines, ice cream or Birds Milk®. Wedel is RSPO certified, which guarantees a more sustainable origin of palm oil. The company has begun seeking Rainforest Alliance certification for its main raw material, cocoa, and has declared that it will completely abandon the use of caged eggs by 2025. It also does not use genetically modified raw materials. E. Wedel brand products may contain glucose-fructose syrup, preservatives, emulsifiers and stabilizers. Since 2020, Wedel's factory and office, located in Warsaw's Praga district, have been powered by electricity derived 100% from wind farms. Wedel is trying to minimize its impact on the environment by using solutions such as zoned lighting, reducing printing, reusing plastic pallets or electronic parts from partially broken machinery. Out of concern for the biodiversity of the immediate neighborhood, the manufacturer cares for the Polish-German Gardens, a bee apiary has been maintained on the factory's roof for years, hotels for pollinating insects were built in a nearby park in 2021, and nesting boxes for city birds are located on the facade of the company's building. As part of the "Zero Plastic on the Table" campaign, biodegradable substitutes for plates and cutlery have appeared in the cafeteria. E. Wedel brand products are sold in both plastic and paper packaging, with plastic packaging predominating. Wedel aims to use environmentally friendly packaging. To this end, it has set a goal that by 2025 a significant portion of its packaging will be recyclable, or will come from recycled materials. Wedel has an IFS quality certificate and ISO 9001 standard, and the company has been supporting local communities for many years, cooperating with, among others, the Heart for Children Association in Warsaw and the SOS Food Banks in Warsaw. Employees have the opportunity to carry out their own original assistance programs aimed at local communities throughout Poland. As part of employee volunteering, Wedel, together with the Foundation for Good Initiatives, also supports young wards of childcare centers in their quest for a better future.
