Traidcraft, launched in 1979, is one of the oldest and biggest organisations promoting fair trade. They work with more than 100 producer groups in over 30 developing countries to provide 450 fair trade food, craft and textile products. Traidcraft has also established a charity that supports local communities to use trade as a means ofworking their way out of poverty. Traidcraft is one of the founding members of the British Fairtrade Foundation as well as one of the pioneers of the work on Fairtrade certification for farming cotton. Traidcraft is also concerned about the environmental impact of their products and supports farmers in switching their cotton farming practices to organic. Other textiles (like wool, jute, silk and alpaca wool) are sourced from small scale producers that are being encouraged by Traidcraft to become less polluting. Traidcraft makes it available for consumers to track the producer chain of all their products. Traidcraft have received many awards for their work including Queen's Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development in 2006.
