Timberland is an American manufacturer of footwear and clothing. Timberland introduces eco-friendly materials such as pesticide-free organic cotton or recycled rubber for making soles (the rubber comes from processed car tires). The brand’s footwear is made of leather processed in tanneries whose environmental impact is monitored by an independent organization. Timberland complies with the principle of transparency and publishes annual information on raw materials used, carbon footprint (which the company is trying to reduce) and working conditions in the supply chain. The company discloses a list of its suppliers. Shoe boxes are made from 100% recycled materials (at least 80% post-consumer) and are printed with soy-based and sesame-based inks. 30% of the energy used by the company in 2020 came from renewable sources. The company is also involved in planting trees to reduce its carbon footprint. In 2020, she planted almost 2 million trees.
