Veja is a French company that produces athletic shoes and sneakers, both vegan and leather. All materials (organic & Fairtrade cotton, natural rubber, vegetable tanned leather) are sourced and manufactured in Brazil. Cotton is sourced from ADEC, an association of cotton producers in the northeast of Brazil. Veja focuses on transparency by disclosing information on wage-levels, the amount of cotton bought each year and prices for cotton and rubber. Shoes are transported from Brazil by boat, which reduces the emissions of carbon dioxide. Veja’s packaging is made of recycled and recyclable cardboard. The size of the shoe-box was reduced in 2002 to optimize efficiency.
