Feiny Biscuits is an Austrian sweets brand owned by the family company Gunz Warenhandels. The company was founded by two people, currently employs about 200 people, and the products are sold all over the world. The company imports approximately 1,900 tons of cocoa annually from Africa. The products have a Fairtrade certificate for the raw material, which is cocoa. Thanks to the certification, farmers receive around EUR 1 million in Fairtrade bonuses per year, which they can allocate to social projects. The products are sold in both paper and plastic packaging. The company reduces its carbon footprint by using LED lighting, heating with a heat pump, maximizing the use of pallets and thus reducing the frequency of transport. What it cannot reduce, it offsets. The company supports climate change adaptation projects in Ethiopia by providing approximately 5,000 households in 8 Ethiopian municipalities with packages consisting of: two efficient stoves, seeds with instructions for growing vegetables, tree seedlings with afforestation projects, a light source from a photovoltaic system and a water treatment plant using solar energy. Every year, €100,000 goes to the Gunz Solidarity Fund. This fund mainly helps employees. What is not used in the company is transferred to social institutions.
