Café Intención is a German brand of coffees that are Fairtrade and organic certified . Depending on the harvesting period, the Arabica beans come from Fairtrade cooperatives in Peru and Honduras. Each fruit is first hand-picked by growers, then stripped of its pulp, washed and laid out to dry, shelled and sorted. Fairtrade certification ensures that farmers receive a fair price for their products and a social bonus for development projects that serve the entire community. Café Intención is owned by J.J Darboven, which supports, among other things, the sustainable cultivation of coffee and tea, the improvement of workers' living conditions, gender equality and opportunities for higher education and skills. The company strives to reduce carbon emissions. It transports goods by ship, and obtains electricity for its Hamburg and Sauerlach plants from a Scandinavian hydropower plant.
